WOLFSBURG, Germany (Reuters) - A top German union official will explain to hourly employees at Volkswagen's U.S. plant in early June that his group will not pressure them to join the United Auto Workers union, the automaker's top labor representative said on Thursday.
The UAW is relying heavily on the IG Metall, which has members on VW's works council, to help it organize German-owned U.S. plants because the German union has influence with VW management.

Delta Township —General Motors Co. will hire a majority of new-to-GM employees as it adds a second shift at its Lansing Grand River assembly plant to build the Cadillac ATS, a plant official said Tuesday.
The Detroit automaker has already hired 460 of the about 600 workers it will need for the second shift and has already identified the rest of those new hires, said Erin Davis, a Lansing Grand River plant spokeswoman.
